Forum: etree Subject: creating of md5 files with flac compression???

so once I create the flac files, i use a program like md5summer to make the md5 files right?? for those flac files.

sorry for a maybe silly question. it's just that i've tried to upload flac before and didn't upload an md5 file with everything else. then I processed the concert and realised I needed the md5s. so made some and it still didn't verify.

thanks in advance
Andrew

yes, md5summer makes an md5 with any group of files you want. a group of movie files, photos, whatever.

you might want to remove the top two lines through after it is done making the md5. the first two lines are like:

#Md5 summer
#generated YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM

and then it starts listing the hash file of the md5. these first two lines with the # start sometimes trip up md5 checks (like mkw). i just delete them after the md5 is made.

hope that helps! and yes, for flacs, you don't _need_ to include an md5, but if you want an e-mail telling you what files are corrupt or not fully uploaded, an md5 is necessary for sure.
